1. Cloud Hosting is Not Restricted to a Remote File Storage Solely.

1. Furnishing a remote data storage service, which comprises one single disk storage tool for all users, does not convert any particular hosting supplier into an actual cloud hosting vendor.

The cPanel web hosting vendors dub the ability to deliver remote file storage services a cloud hosting solution. Up till now there is nothing bad about the cloud designation, but... we are discussing hosting solutions, not remote disk storage services for individual or business purposes. There's always one "but", isn't there? It's not enough to call a shared hosting solution, powered by a single-server hosting environment, exactly like cPanel, a "cloud hosting" service. That's because the other constituents of the entire hosting platform must be operating in precisely the same manner - this does not relate solely to the remote data storage. The other services involved in the whole web hosting procedure also have to be remote, isolated and "clouded". And that's really tough. A very meager number of hosting corporations can really accomplish it.

2. It Encompasses Domains, Email Box Accounts, Databases, FTPs, CPs, etc.

Cloud hosting is not restricted to a remote disk storage exclusively. We are discussing a web hosting service, serving many domain names, web portals, mail aliases, etc., are we not?

To name a web hosting service a "cloud hosting" one calls for a lot more than furnishing plainly remote data storage mounts (or perhaps servers). The email server(s) need to be devoted only to the email related services. Doing nothing different than these particular assignments. There might be only one or probably a whole bunch of electronic mail servers, determined by the total load created. To have a genuine cloud hosting solution, the remote database servers should be operating as one, regardless of their real number. Carrying out nothing different. The same goes for the customers' hosting CPs, the FTP, and so on.

3. There are Cloud Domain Servers (DNSs) too.

The DNSs (Domain Name Servers) of an actual cloud hosting corporation will support multiple datacenter facility locations on different continents.

Here's an instance of a DNS of a true cloud hosting corporation:

dns1.etesla.technology

dns2.etesla.technology

If such a Domain Name Server is provided by your hosting plans provider, it's not a guarantee that there is a cloud hosting platform in use, but you can definitely be confident when you observe a DNS such as the one beneath:

dns658.hostgator.com

dns659.hostgator.com

that there isn't any cloud web hosting service. This sort of DNS only indicates that the hosting environment in use is one-server based. Possibly it's cPanel. cPanel is a one-server web hosting solution and holds a 98+ percent market share. In cPanel's case, one server takes care of all web hosting services (web, mail, DNS, databases, FTP, web hosting CP(s), website files, etc.).

Remote File Storage - The Warped Interpretation of Cloud Hosting.

So, a cloud hosting solution is not confined solely to a remote disk storage solution, as multiple web hosting vendors wish it was. Sadly for them, if that was the case, most of the file hosting companies would have been referred to as cloud web hosting ones a long time ago! They are not referred to as such, as they plainly supply file web hosting services, not cloud web hosting solutions. The file web hosting platform appears indeed very plain, when compared to the hosting platform. The remote data storage platform is not a cloud hosting platform. It cannot be, as it's simply one small fraction of the whole cloud hosting platform. There's plenty more to be discovered in the cloud web hosting platform: the web hosting Control Panel cloud, the database clouds (MySQL, PostgreSQL), the DNS cloud, the FTP cloud, the email cloud and... in the near future, perhaps a bunch of new clouds we currently don't know about will come up out of nowhere.
